As real-word assets (RWA) are keep on expanding, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has given go ahead to The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) to tokenize securities. This approval is widely regarded as a biggest RWA validation till now and opening new opportunities in the digital landscape. As per the announcement, DTTC clears $2+ quadrillion in securities annually and put all it all onchain.
DTCC Launches SEC-Approved DLT Pilot for Onchain RWAs
To transform this idea into reality, DTTC is set to initiate a 3-year pilot program enabling participants to record entitlements to DTC-custodied assets i.e., Stocks and treasury bills through distributed ledger technology (DLT). As SEC gives approval, DTTC aims to bridge legacy financial systems with the onchain infrastructure to offer exceptional benefits like atomic settlement, enhanced capital efficiency, and 24/7 accessibility.
It is claimed that this initiative marks the biggest validation for Real World Assets (RWAs) in the crypto space till now in 2026. By tokenizing real-world securities, DTCC is set to integrate with multiple public and private blockchains that meet SEC standards and starting with a minimum viable product (MVP) in a controlled environment during the first half of 2026.
